The coronavirus pandemic has caused huge disruption to the economy, impacting businesses of all sizes across every sector.
Despite the seven Connect Derby buildings being closed for 10 weeks, our enterprising tenants have stayed open for business, finding different ways of working and promoting their goods and services. Here's a snapshot of some of the great work they’ve been doing.
What products and services do you offer?
We specialise in the following:
- Supply & Specification of Chains for Transmission of Power, Conveying and Bulk Materials Handling
- Automatic Lubricators, Centralised Lubrication Systems, Food Grade and Industrial Greases & Oils
- Wire Belts
We serve the following industries: Quarry, Cement, Asphalt, Aggregates, Food, Beverage, Automotive, Pharmaceutical, Recycling, Utilities and others.
How are you doing things differently during lockdown?
We have set ourselves up to offer remote services whilst we can’t visit clients. These include the following:
1) Virtual Survey
2) Live Video Assistance
3) Automated Webshop
4) Zoom, WhatsApp, Skype, FaceTime and tele-conferences with clients and suppliers
What have you learned about yourself and your team during this time?
I’ve learnt that both I and the company are very adaptable, resilient and willing to embrace new technology and ways of working.
What positives (if any) have come from working differently?
We’ve managed to maintain customer contact and problem solve remotely. Business has maintained a decent level during the lockdown so far and we are currently recruiting for new staff.
