Louise works within the heritage craft of lacemaking, designing, making and teaching the traditions of lacemaking, to disseminate knowledge and inspire contemporary practice.
Louise has been making lace since 1992, and in 2013 completed an MA in Art and Design, specialising in Contemporary Lace. She has a wide range of experience in traditional East Midlands Laces of Bedfordshire and Bucks Point laces, which she teaches regularly in Derby, Nottingham and Leicester. Louise teaches workshops to a wide range of students, in the UK and overseas, and also travels to give talks to interested groups. The workshops offered can be for complete beginners wanting a taster day, to experience lacemaking or a relaxing day away from computers. Alternatively longer courses can be tailored to experienced Lacemakers wanting specialist, in depth knowledge of Bedfordshire lace, including design.
She has also published a book "Bedfordshire Lace Designs" which contains 29 new designs for students to work from. Louise occasionally takes on commissions and has won an award from H.C.A for her teaching.
